Lodging in Palas de Rei right on the Camino de Santiago

Like every Pilgrim, we have Our Story

About Us

We are all looking for ourselves on the Camino de Santiago

Life is change, everything is constantly changing around us.

There are changes that we like and others that we don’t like so much.

But there is another type of change that is special. Those that change ourselves.

The problem is that sometimes they take time to assimilate.

The Camino de Santiago welcomes all of us pilgrims who are in that moment of life.

Like you, I was also a pilgrim.

That’s how I discovered this beautiful place: La Rectoral de Lestedo.

After a radical change in my professional life, I needed to find again what direction I wanted to give to my life. “Walker, there is no path, the path is made by walking” said Antonio Machado. And so I did, I set out on the road to Santiago de Compostela from Saint Jean Pied de Port.

That’s how I discovered on the Camino de Santiago this accommodation on the way to Palas de Rei.

From the first moment I fell in love with it.

The Rectoral had a soul. An atmosphere that I did not fully understand until I stayed there for the night.

I discovered its story.

The place was the old priest’s house and is more than two centuries old. But it was not its story that captivated me.

It was the people.

After weeks on the Camino I discovered that the treatment of pilgrims in many places was not hospitable. Pilgrims are numbers, part of mass tourism.

But in La Rectoral it was different. I felt human warmth, something I needed to better bear the burden of the weight I was carrying to assimilate the changes in my life.

And that’s when I saw myself at La Rectoral.

Welcoming pilgrims to give them hospitality and human warmth. I wanted to make their Camino lighter.

Luckily, the hotel was for sale.

I didn’t have to think about it to decide that La Rectoral was mine and I was part of it.

And that is how, since 2018, my family has maintained the essence of this place.

Taking care of the pilgrims.

Taking care of you.

¡Buen Camino!

History of La Rectoral de Lestedo

This house that we share with you is a traditional Galician construction. Located at the foot of the Camino de Santiago, it was the home of priests who officiated in the church of Lestedo. Previously it is said that it was a hospital for pilgrims. The exact age of the building is unknown, although everything leads us to believe that it is more than two centuries old.

We had to carry out an important rehabilitation to be able to offer our guests a different house for its design, combining the modern with the most traditional of our architecture.

After this great change, La Rectoral takes care of the pilgrims on the Camino to be their “O descanso no Camiño”.
